Drugstore Displays

I've been out and about taking photos of nail polish displays again. First I have Wet n Wild Color Icon Insomnia, which I know is not brand new—KrisInPhilly did swatches of them on My Lucid Bubble several weeks ago—but some stores just seem to be getting them now.

Wet n Wild

Left to right: Sleep Walker, Hypnotic Red, Dark Shadow, Black Fog, Prowler, Night Owl, Blue Jitters, Mystic Blue.

As Kris noted, these are wee bottles, .29 oz/8.5ml; only $1.99 but given much bigger bottles can be gotten for that same money, I think waiting for a sale is a fine idea. Now that I'm starting to feel ready for fall, I'm much more interested in these sorts of colors so you'll probably see several from this collection in entries in the coming weeks.

Next up, something I was a tiny bit surprised to see in August but probably shouldn't have been given that Christmas merchandise shows up around November 1st—yes, that's right, the Halloween pumpkin polishes from Blue Cross.

Halloween

Halloween

Looks like this year there are six shades of glow-in-the-dark glitters (orange, pink, yellow, purple, green, and blue) and five cremes (orange, white, black, purple, and pink) plus a black light top coat. I'll be getting at least a couple pumpkins to add to my collection. I already bought the black light top coat; I won't get to see it in action very much, since my social life rarely takes place under black light, but at least now I've got the right nail polish for when it does.

Borghese's new collection is called Scintillare, and I think eventually I will end up with most of them, because they are glitters, and even though I am a grown woman with a job and a mortgage and wrinkles, I love me some glitter.

Borghese

Colors are Scintilla Magic (red), Ipnotico Gold (gold), Purple Confetti (plum), Nero Magico (black with silver), Mediterraneo Sea (blue), and Vignetto Berry (pink). I am going to try to hold out for a sale (though I just now noticed there's a coupon pad on the display!) on these, too, but may not be able to, at least when it comes to the purple one.

Finally, and most excitingly for me, as I am in Sally Hansen's thrall, I found the limited edition Xtreme Wear display that has been spotted in other parts of the country for weeks now.

Sally Hansen

There are ten colors: Purple Gala, Golden Child, Concrete, Cosmic Blue, Purple Fiesta, Plum Burst, Fireberry Red, Cherry Punch, and Mystic Lilac. There was a sale on these, so I scooped up six of them, leaving behind the reds, because I am still sensitive to how very many reds I found when I reorganized my stash, the darker blue, and the plum. That's not to say I won't weaken and pick up those remaining ones at some point, though.

  2. The SHs were at Ulta--only place I've seen them in Michigan so far (though I haven't been to Walgreens in a while so they may be there by now).

  4. You are so lucky to have such decent displays. Our chemists have nothing as good as this.

  5. I wonder when my Wal greens will get these displays...they are really bad about putting out new things and restocking the sinful colors permanent display.

  8. I have one pumpkin, but I want to go back and get the blacklight topcoat. My social life doesn't take place under a blacklight either (sad, because I am in college still), but it would be fun to have.

And I'm really excited for the Borghese and Sally Hansen displays to come to a store near me.

Thanks for these posts, they're really great.

  13. The thing that I love about your blog Karen is that you give cheap drugstore nps such attention since not everyone can afford the big brands. Also how you showcase all the upcoming collections like here.

I need to get me to America sometime. :)

  14. I like the Borghese display and the SH's. I have never ever heard of the brand Blue Cross. Too bad, so much stuff we don't get here in Texas. If the Blue Cross polishes were here, I would totally buy them, just for Halloween. I am too old for tricks and treats, but I don't mind the glitter!
