Cult Nails Swatches

I recently pre-ordered Cult Nails A Day at the Races collection, which inspired me to pull out the three currently available colors from this brand that I haven't already had on my nails. (My Kind of Cool Aid has been on my nails quite a lot; I'm pretty sure it's already secured a spot in my Top 20 for 2011 even though it's only April.)

Quench is a blood red creme. I got this before I put myself on a no-buy for pinks and reds, but I probably would have made an exception for this one anyway, as Maria said it was inspired by her love of the show True Blood, and I've been a fan of the Sookie books for a long time, since before there was a show (some of the more recent books have not been my favorites, but that's a topic for another website). There's no shortage of red cremes in the world, for sure, but this is a particularly nice one. In subdued light, it's very deep; in direct daylight, like in the third picture below, it's bright. I could have stopped at two coats but went for three to enhance the vampy-ness. It's also very shiny; as usual for me, these swatches are without top coat, and it doesn't look like Quench needs it.

Iconic is a deep red with flakies and what appears to be gold micro glitter (a no-buy exception would have been made for this one, too, because, hello—flakies).

I first tried one coat of Iconic over Quench. Even with just that one coat, it had a very nice depth to it.

Two coats of Iconic alone was quite nice as well.

Living Water, which came to be based on a contest announced on Maria's blog when she first revealed Cult Nails was a go, is a very dark blue black with blue and green glitter. Two coats of this one as well.

Unlike the other two, Living Water needed a top coat to smooth it out (not unexpected given the glitter in it), so I added some.

I'm happy to have all three of these in my collection.

On an unrelated note, in case you missed it Locavore won! Thanks to everyone who voted, and look for an RBL giveaway here after these re-releases are available.

  7. I love Quench. Especially the name, it just fits so perfectly. Although bloodred nails intimidate me... but they seem so "I am woman, hear me roar"

And I went and voted for Lovacore, hoping they do another sale this year so I can take advantage of it. :)
