Filthy Gorgeous

In my 4th of July entry, I mentioned that I'd gotten the red creme I used from Gem. I'd won a contest on her blog and when the package arrived, not only did it have the prize I'd put my name in for—a set of Filthy Gorgeous polishes—but also included some extra surprises!

That's 17 Fast Finish in Knockout Red sitting in front of the set on the left and Barry M Hologram (or maybe it's called Hologram Hexograms, that's what their website says, though there's not enough room on the bottom label for that). Gem also sent chocolate, but that didn't last long enough to get in the photograph; I ate it all up at the office before I even took the polish home, because it was very tasty, and also candy takes the edge off stressful days at work, which I seem to be having more and more of lately. (Thinking about how my job allows me to pay my bills and buy a lot of nail polish also helps.)

And here are the Filthy Gorgeous cremes freed from their box; one of them came with a guitar pick thingy (dangle? charm? I'm not sure what the proper name is for little clippy ornaments like that):

I couldn't decide which Filthy Gorgeous to try first, so I did skittles.

Top to bottom: Judy Baby, Pulp, Slush, Midnight.

These are all two coats, no top coat. Slush and Midnight were almost one-coaters. The deep shades of berry, purple, green, and navy are some of my favorites, as a peek into my closet during fall and winter would show (in spring and summer, I tend to wear brighter and lighter colors, though my nails don't necessarily follow suit).

I couldn't resist trying them with glitter on top, but I was reluctant to use the Barry M because I wanted to save it, so I grabbed the first thing I came across in my stash that was sort of similar, Nubar Purple Fire (which is perhaps not that close since it's got a lot of little glitter in it along with the hexes).

I didn't really want to take these off when I was done swatching, I liked the colors so much, with and without glitter.
