Recent NOTD: Sally Hansen Good Morning Glory

Today's post is very late, I realize, but I have a good reason: instead of getting up at 6-something and getting on a computer a little while later, I got up at 4:45 and got on a plane for a trip to see the person on my team who works remotely. After we wrapped up our business for the day, I had some time on my way back toward the airport to indulge in one of my non-nail related hobbies, wandering cemeteries looking at old headstones and taking lots of pictures of things that catch my eye, like this angel.

But you're not here for gravestones, you're here for nails, and I've got a few snaps of what was on mine a little while back. I popped on some Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips in Good Morning Glory and went out into the world, not even stopping to take any well lit photos. Here's a regular room light shot:

I did get them in the lightbox just before I took them off. You can see some tipwear and a little chipping. I put on a treatment basecoat before the strips this time, and I think that interfered with them sticking to my nail.

I am regretting that I only got one box of these limited edition strips (which I've now used half of). Since they're purple, they go with most of the stuff in my wardrobe. Ah well, it's not like I don't have other purple options in my stash.

And now I see that the clock has just flipped over to Saturday, so that today I referred to in the first paragraph is now yesterday. I need to get to bed. Have a great weekend, everyone!

How many strips are in 1 box?

  2. Thanks! The box has two packages of strips, and each one has 8 in it--I cut some of them in half since my nails aren't nearly as long as the strips, so I can get two manis from a box.

  3. That first picture is stunning Karen. Cool hobby too, I always love hearing about what my fave bloggers do other than blog. Thanks for sharing! Pretty nail strips, I'm sad to say that I've not tried strips yet.

  4. Karen! I have to admit that when I am in a cemetery I just need to look at the names. I crave for odd/strange names, I even have a list!
As for your nails, they are really cute! But definitely, you have many other purples and you could (maybe?) recreate the look with stamping?

  6. :-) the first picture reminded me of when I was in Paris and I brough my boyfriend to see a couple cemetieries...There were amazing monuments there!
On stripes, I usually avoid them because I can't stand their tipwear but the design is really beautiful, maybe you can get something similar with stamping.

  8. I absolutely adore the pattern on these nail strips- some of the best ones yet! It reminds me of vintage wallpaper.

As for wandering cemeteries, if you're ever in Ukraine (okay, probably a long shot) have a look at the cemeteries there. They're very interesting- all the headstones display either a photo or an etched likeness of the person buried there. At first I found that strange, but then I began to really like the idea- you really get an idea of who the person was in life, instead of just seeing a name and a date.

My very favourite example of this was a spectacularly large tombstone that sported a full length likeness of a 30 or 40 something year old man, dressed casually in a "cool" leather jacket, leaning on a sports car (presumably his?). He looked so relaxed, so happy. Anyways, you definitely got a sense of who the guy was, what his favourite things were... it was pretty great.

  9. I LOVE these salon effects!! I've never really been compelled to buy any of the besides the halloween ones, but I think I'm going to have to pick up a box of these and give them a whirl! The remind me of vintage wallpaper or vintage china. So awesome!

  19. I love angel statues and wandering around cemeteries too. Most all my yard decor was ripped off, but they left my little broken winged angel statue, thank goodness. It is super special to me, just so very super special.

I haven't tried those nail strips yet because I love painting my nails, but I would consider those because they are so pretty.
