Indie Polish from Oopsie Daisies

I was overdue for a dose of glitter and found something that hit the spot: creme base glitters from Oopsie Daisies Nail Polish. I bought her Sweet Treat Trio, shown below, made up of Banana Split, Tiramisu, and Strawberry Trifle.

Banana Split is a soft yellow base with small and large hex glitter in pink, white, and brown. I used three coats plus a topcoat (though it really wasn't too bumpy without it). I could have stopped at two coats probably, but was enjoying seeing how it built up, with the glitter from the earlier layers showing through the base color of the later ones.

If you look very closely at this detail shot (or click to see it full size) you may spot a few bubbles. That's not the polish's fault; that's me being too impatient to allow enough drying time between coats (and the heat and humidity in my swatching space that day didn't help either).

Tiramisu has a rosy taupe base with various brown (almost black to copper) and white glitters in a mix of sizes. Three coats plus topcoat for this one as well.

Strawberry Trifle is a pink base with glitters in white and red (or maybe dark pink?). Again, three coats plus topcoat.

For pale-ish cremes, these really were well behaved as far as streakiness, so I figured they'd layer nicely. To try out that theory, I put on Sally Hansen Commander in Chic (one of my many purpley taupe cremes) and added a single coat of Tiramasu. It worked out well; there was still plenty of glitter, the cool-toned base underneath gave Tiramsu a different look, and I didn't notice any than Tiramasu by itself.

To complement the Sweet Treats I'd purchased, Cathryn gave me two limited edition polishes to review, With a Cherry on Top and Ganache. These are both jelly bases that can be worn on their own or layered.

With a Cherry on Top is a deep pink jelly with multi-sized red glitter. It builds nicely; below you can see one coat (on the left) to four coats.

Of course I had to try layering With a Cherry on Top; here's two coats of it over Strawberry Trifle:

And here's more layering fun—left to right, two coats of With a Cherry on Top over a silver foil (Nicole by OPI Give Me the 1st Dance), red creme (OPI Off With Her Red), purple shimmer (Zoya Mimi), and black creme (Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme).

If I ever join one of those red hat societies, this is what I'm wearing on my nails to my first meeting:

Ganache is a warm brown jelly with mixed sizes and shades of brown glitter. Like With a Cherry on Top, it's buildable—here's one to four coats, left to right (no topcoat):

Three coats, close up:

Once again, I had to combine my dessert polishes; here's two coats of Ganache over Tiramasu:

And here's Ganache over Banana Split:

Since I still had the bases out that I'd used under With a Cherry on Top, I went ahead and tried Ganache over them, except I put a gold foil (Milani In My Network) on my index finger instead of silver.

I think it's clear I liked these, since I turned five polishes into twenty photos after some very draconian editing (I think my raw photos files for these has over 100 shots in it). I liked that I didn't have to fish for the glitter; as with any chunky mix like these, I did have to skootch around a few of the bigger pieces with the brush once I had them on my nails (or maybe that's just my OCD side kicking in). Last I looked at the Oopsie Daisies etsy shop, all these polishes were in stock (at $8 per full-size 15ml bottle), along with some new ones I haven't had a chance to try yet but which look intriguing.

The With a Cherry on Top and Ganache polishes shown in this entry were provided free for review purposes. The content of the entry was not dictated by the provider, and I get to keep the polishes for my own use.
