Hex Nail Jewelry

Today I've got something you don't often see on my nails: a 3D nail art charm. This one is from Hex Nail Jewelry, which does gold-plated metal charms in a variety of designs, from animals to hearts to words to all sorts of things. The one I chose to try says "I Do Nails", which seemed appropriate.

I stuck it to my nail down with a blob of topcoat. If I'd planned on wearing it for a while, I would have used nail glue and maybe put topcoat over the charm. I say maybe because putting topcoat on means getting it off again, and I understand that using remover shortens the shiny gold life of the charm.

The charm was slightly curved, but not as curved as my nail, at least not where the charm got wider at the bottom.

Here's a side view so you can see the profile:

They have some fun designs, I'm just not sure they're my style. I know it seems odd to say when I have no problem wearing a glitterbomb mani, but even just the one charm seemed like too much bling for me.

The charms sell for $1.75 each (though I did spot a few on sale for less) and are reusable. When it came time to take the charm off, I just gently pried it off with an orange stick and flaked the dried topcoat off the back.

The charm shown in this entry was provided free for review purposes. The content of the entry was not dictated by the provider.

  1. That's cute. :) Would it be possible to maybe bend it a little more?

    1. Lizzy, I thought about that but when it didn't respond to gentle pressure, I backed off in case I broke it. Perhaps I should have been more aggressive with it.

  2. I wonder if they're sold out of this one? I can't seem to find it on the site. I really love this one.

    1. Amber, that could be. I know they have a FB page; that might be a good place to ask about this specific charm, as I know I saw them respond to other questions there.

  3. Cute but did it catch on things like clothes or towels?

    1. Micki, I didn't wear it long enough to have too much trouble with that sort of thing, but I was afraid I would--one of the reasons I didn't wear it very long. I could just see waking up in the morning to find it had popped off after getting snagged in my bedclothes.

  4. It looks fun, but not my style either, and I suspect the gaps along the curved sides would make me try to pick it LOL

    1. Maria, I was tempted to fiddle with it, for sure.

  5. That is cool, but I'd totally get hair and fuzz caught on the edges. Maybe it would be better for a thumbnail or a wider nail?

    1. Lindsey, yes, I think you're right; probably would have fit better on my thumb--but my thumbs are camera-shy. :)

  7. This looks cute. I think having it not lay flat would bother me though lol. Nice that it's reusable :)
