Recent NOTD: Orchid Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time

A while back, I did a swap with my friend Mel of Delicious Color. She picked me up a bunch of stuff at HEB, which I wish we had here but we do not (though we do have Meijer, so I should not complain). I don't seem to have taken a picture of all the loot, but I do have photos of Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time from Orchid, the first polish I wore from what she sent. Here it is in my full mani lineup of treatment, base, color, and topcoat. (Edited because Mel reminded me that she'd taken a photo of her end of the swap; it's here.)

In the lineup, Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time looks like a plain warm lilac, but look what shows up if you get closer—multi colored sparkles!

Those sparkles show up on the nail, too.

I used three coats of the Orchid and was just a bit surprised to see that it was a foil rather than a shimmer (I chose it based on display photos Mel was kind enough to take for me, so I only knew it was purple and had an amusing name).

Here it is in the sun after a few days; there's some tipwear but nothing too crazy.

Inside shot of the tipwear:

I really like this one—purple and rainbow sparkles are two of my favorite things, and the foil finish adds an unexpected twist that I appreciate—sparkle in jelly or clear or even shimmer are more common than sparkles in foil. This was one of those polishes that I'd spend time just watching as I'd wave my fingers around (usually when no one was looking, but I can't say I always made sure of that).
