Periwinkle Shimmer Comparison

Okay, so I caved and got Nicole by OPI Back to Reality TV, one of the CVS exclusives (at least for the moment it's an exclusive—seems these things have a way of popping up other places eventually). I am not mentioning the K-word associated with this, as those females get way more attention than they merit. This particular polish is a periwinkle with pink shimmer, pretty enough to get me to overlook the bottle and branding.

On the nail, the shimmer is fairly subtle, though in brighter lighting the pink does pop. These swatches are two coats, no top coat.

I noticed that this Nicole looked similar to one of the new Sinful Colors, Zeus.

On the nail, there is a slight difference; the shimmer particles in the Sinful look smaller to me and perhaps a touch less pink, and the base color appears a hair lighter in most conditions, though in others it seems darker, so I'm declaring Zeus a perfectly fine alternative to Back to Reality TV, especially since it's about six dollars cheaper. (Zeus also has the advantage of having no punctuation in its name; I've been leaving out the ellipsis between Reality and TV for the NOPI).

Top to bottom: NOPI, Sinful, NOPI, Sinful.

Sinful (top), NOPI (bottom).

What do you think? Close enough that one person doesn't need both? If so, which would you choose? Would you take the NOPI if it were free?

  1. I got Zeus just yesterday when I stopped in Walgreens for some allergy relief. I almost got the NOPI but I don't really want to associate with the Kardashians since I don't give a hoot about them. Plus, SC is so much cheaper that I'm willing to take a little less shimmer payout. I also picked up a Sally Hansen that looks like a pink tinted Glass Slipper, called Princess Cut, that I'm going to layer it over Zeus.

  3. I think I still prefer the Sinful! Especially since I just don't want to associate with anything K-related! Haha.

  6. Wish I knew Zues was coming out when I bought that ugly nOPI bottle loll.. I'm wondering how close the new Essie in the resort collection is as well.

  7. Glad to see this! I was wearing Zeus when I went to CVS to look for the NOPI. I didn't get the NOPI due to how similar they looked. Glad to see it confirmed. Thanks

  8. Great comparison! These are really close... Hmm, I think I'd take the Sinful polish. It looks a touch lighter, and I like a light periwinkle blue. Thanks for comparing these for us!

  14. I don't have either of them, but it's pretty. My first thought was that maybe someone played around with the OPI I don't give a Rotterdam base color and used the pink shimmer instead of the silverish shimmer and flecks and turned down the grey, that might give this exact color, hahaha, sorry about thinking out loud ;)

  16. Funny enough I just removed a polish which was almost identical to these ones, maybe a tone darker! And it was an Italian brand. I also fell in love with the pink shimmer but I was disappointed it didn't show up so clearly on the nails :(

  17. I am delighted to say I have only briefly glimpsed photos of these harpies online. I have never stooped to read about them nor have I seen them on TV.
I would not endorse any brand to which their name is attached.
I like the Sinful polish a lot.

  20. I too have K-ho issues & am not fond of the price OPI charges for the use of their name. I have the Sinful Colors Zeus & can say that it does have more depth than photos relate & for $2 US what's not to like?
