Zoya Gloss Collection Swatches

Zoya has three collections out for fall 2012, with 15 polishes in a mix of finishes. Today I've got the Gloss collection, which consists of three buildable jelly polishes: Paloma, Frida, and Katherine.



I started with Paloma, a berry pink. At four thin coats, I could still see a hint of visible nail line (though I don't remember the line looking quite as dark as it does in these photos—wonder if I'll live long enough to have a camera that works like the human eye and sees what it sees).





Frida is a teal green jelly. In all my vast stash, I do not have another teal green jelly. I have old school Maybelline Water polishes in Emerald and Blue but those aren't the same thing at all. Like Paloma, I used four coats for this one.





Katherine is a plum jelly (the outside of a plum, not the inside). This seemed slightly more pigmented than the others in this collection; I used three coats for these swatches.





If you like a more sheer look, these are definitely well behaved enough to wear at fewer coats. Here's Paloma at one coat (top) building to four (bottom).



Of course I couldn't put these away without playing around some—seems silly to have jelly around and not make any sandwiches.

For my first experiment, I put on two coats of Frida, then one of Milani Jewel FX Gold, and finished with one more of Frida. This is the most wearable look I've ever managed with that gold glitter; having Frida to cool it down makes it look so much better against my skintone.





I used two glitters in my next sandwich, which consisted of two coats of Katherine, one of Wet 'n' Wild Fast Dry Party of Five Glitters, one of Milani Jewel FX Silver, and one more of Katherine. I'm thinking two coats of Party of Five would have been better, and maybe no Jewel FX silver, since I really liked how the colors popped against the plum base.



I didn't do a sandwich with Paloma but rather used her as a colored topper for a silver metallic, in this case Revlon ColorStay Sequin. I used two coats of each polish and thought this combination had a nice depth to it.





In the sun, the silver underneath gave Paloma some sparkle.



These are available now on the Zoya website. I haven't seen them in Ulta yet. Later this week, possibly as soon as tomorrow depending on how the photo selection process goes, I'll have a look at the other new fall polishes from Zoya, the Diva and Designer collections.
