L'Oreal Electric Fantasie Collection

Today I've got the polishes from L'Oreal's Fall 2012 Project Runway limited edition makeup collection, Electric Fantasie. This was divided into four sub-collections, each of which had two polishes. Left to right below: The Temptress' Touch and The Temptress' Power (from The Seductive Temptress subset), The Muse's Inspiration and The Muse's Attitude (The Artsy Muse), The Mystic's Fortune and The Mystic's Future (The Wise Mystic), The Queen's Ambition and The Queen's Might (The Enchanted Queen).

The Temptress' Touch (kudos to L'Oreal for getting that possessive apostrophe in the right place) is a yellow green shimmer with pops of gold and orange—reminds me of the sun coming through the leaves on the trees in the fall when they've just barely started to change colors. I used two coats, no topcoat, for these swatches.

The Temptress' Touch glows quite nicely in low light:

The Temptress' Power was the most interesting one in the group to me because I couldn't think of anything in my stash quite like it. It's a warm light brown with a green shimmer. It's a bit sheer; I used three coats and still had some nail line showing.

Low light made this one glow, too, and also made it look less sheer since the shimmer became so prominent.

Because The Temptress' Power was sheer, I tried it layered on top of The Temptress' Touch; here's two coats of each:

I did the other three pairs together. Here's The Muse's Attitude, a deep teal green shimmer, with an accent of The Muse's Inspiration, an orange shimmer (two coats of each):

The Muses in low light:

The Mystic's Fortune is a deep blue shimmer; here it is at two coats with an accent of The Mystic's Future, a bright warm purple shimmer (also two coats):

Low light Mystics:

Finally, here is The Queen's Ambition, a black with silver microglitter, with an accent of The Queen's Might, a deep rose pink shimmer. Ambition is two coats and it could really use topcoat but I was too lazy to add some. Might is three thin coats; two thicker ones would probably have worked as well.

Low light doesn't do anything for Ambition other than highlight the need for topcoat, but Might looks pretty.

For me, the Temptress pair is the standout among these.

  6. Great swatches! I picked up the Muse's Attitude based on swatches and now the temptress pair is living up to it's name! I enjoyed your grammar note, stray apostrophes are so rampant.

Ambition looks close to L'Oreal the Bigger the Better, I didn't enjoy the texture because of the black glitter, but it is undeniably pretty : )

    1. lovenailpolish, I think you're right about Ambition and The Bigger the Better; I'll have to do a comp of those two when I swatch the holiday glitters.

  15. I have to say that it's quite difficult to understand which L'Oréal collections will be available in Italy (it seems they're doing different collections for different countries), hope these will be sold here because there are many interesting shades in this post - The Queen's Ambition is definitely my fav one! :)

  17. I picked up The Temptress' Power and The Queen's Ambition at Walgreen's earlier last month. I initially was going to skip picking these up, UNTIL my SA said they were on sale with the 'Buy 1 get 1 1/2 off' and I could not resist. After looking at your swatches I see a couple more I'd like.

  20. Yeah I guess I just don't get the pairing on these. I get it for the first two-layer one on top of the other, but the rest just seemed randomly put together. And I love how picky you are about the apostrophe. That kind of stuff gets me as well!

  22. I'm just wondering why here in Italy we don't have such L'Oreal polishes. I see them everywhere abroad, they're really gorgeous (especially The Mystic's Fortune and The Muse's Attitude)!!
