Color Club Fiber Optics

Sample provided for review

As part of their Limited Series Micro Batches concept, Color Club has released a four-piece mini set called Fiber Optics. These are all bar glitters in a clear base: Watt's Up, Electric Spark, Neon Static, and Wired.

I started with Wired, which has mostly skinny black bars with a scattering of thicker white bars. I used three coats of Wired alone on my ring finger and on my other nails put one coat of Wired on top of Off Duty, a coppery shimmer that's part of Color Club's holiday collection, Made in New York (which I'll have in full in an upcoming post). This combination would have been perfect for Halloween week, but I just ran out of slots last week. I did add topcoat over this, though the glitter was not especially bumpy on its own.

Here's how it looks with a matte topcoat (OPI, in this case):

Watt's Up has a mix of skinny and thicker metallic silver bars, while the gold Electric Spark only has skinny bars. I alternated these over a base of Color Club Night at the Met (also from the Made in New York collection). One coat of the glitters was enough for ample coverage; I added clear topcoat but again the glitters weren't overly bumpy.

Neon Static is the brightest one in this quartet; it's got skinny black and white bars and thicker bars in neon pink, blue, orange, and yellow. I did two coats of it alone on my accent nail and one coat over Color Club Apple of My Eye (again, from the holiday collection I'll be sharing later). I added clear topcoat, too.

With matte topcoat:

Bar glitter is still not my favorite thing, but I don't feel itchy and unsettled every time I see it like I did way back when. I wouldn't wear any of these on their own, but as toppers for an accent nail or two, I can see them being a fun touch. I like the three which have the different sizes of bars better than the all one-size gold Electric Spark.

This set is available on the Color Club website for $12.95. You can follow Color Club on Facebook for product news and swatches and such.

  2. I don't know how I feel about these. I don't mind a little bar glitter, but I think the different widths are out of my comfort zone. Neon static looks fun though.

  3. I'm sorry, these bar glitters really are too fuzzy for me LOL

  4. Neon Static looks the best, still they are too 'hairy' for me...

  8. I'm not fond of bar glitters, I also would use them just for an accent.
The micro batches collections concept is interesting anyway!
