Orly Prelude to a Kiss vs. Essie A Crewed Interest

On last week's entry about Jealous Much, I asked if there were other comparisons for that Orly collection anyone wanted to see. Gail mentioned Prelude to a Kiss and Essie A Crewed Interest, and that's what I have to share today. First, though, I'll show you each of these light pinkish peach cremes on their own. Here's Orly Prelude to a Kiss; I used two coats, except for the nail that I smudged while painting, which needed a third to fix my clumsiness.

Both of these polishes can look more pink or more peach depending on the light. Above I caught the Orly's pink face; below its peach one.

Essie A Crewed Interest was three coats to get full coverage.

In the bottles, these two look very similar to each other.

On the nail, the Orly is lighter than the Essie. Top to bottom below: Orly, Essie, Orly, Essie.

The difference shown above in the bright illumination of my lightbox lessens in normal room light, to the point where when I wanted to clean off just the Orly fingers so I could do a full mani with the Essie, I had trouble telling them apart. So I'd say you don't need both of these unless you must have every peach creme ever. I'll probably keep the Orly and swap away the Essie, mostly because I like the Orly bottle and brush more.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this comparison. I own the Orly (haven't used it, yet) and I was thisclose to ordering the Essie but now that I have seen this, I can skip the Essie. You saved me eight bucks. *muah!*

  3. Thank you so much, Karen! I have the Essie, and wore it the other day. It went on so patchy, I needed 3 coats - not too unusual for a pastel, I guess. I was kind of hoping that the Orly would be different enough that I could justify getting it also, but I think I'll have to be good and just stick with the Essie!

  4. Nice, thanks for the comp! I don't think I bought either of them but I kinda like it. Perhaps if I see it out in the wild it might come home with me :)

  9. They look so similar. I think only up close I can see one being a bit darker than the other.

  13. Mannn I wish either company still made either of these colors ! I used to have essie but had no idea how much I'd miss it when I ran out and I can't seem to find any dupe for shades this old.

Thank you for reading and commenting! I greatly appreciate knowing I'm not just talking to myself here. :) I'm moderating most comments now due to the spate of spammers who claim to be looking for sexy times.
