Wheel Y9: Halloween Polishes

Getting this wheel of Halloween polishes in on the last Wednesday before this year's holiday. I had some camera trouble the day I painted and photographed this one, so please forgive the uneven quality in these shots. I fear my trusty point and shoot may finally be coming to the end of its useful life but I'm hanging on to it until it's well and truly dead.

The first six of these were supposed to glow, but only the first five did. I was impressed that the Sally Hansen held its own against the newer polishes, and disappointed that the Fantasy Makers was a dud (maybe I needed to shake shake shake it some more?). The Disco Lights (#20) did show a very very faint glow; not sure it was meant to or just caught light from the others and reflected since it is a very pale polish).



Edited to add that Nail Wheel Wednesday will be going on a planned hiatus until December, as I've now posted all the ones I've painted and am away from my stash until U.S. Thanksgiving.

Wheel U8: Halloween Novelty Bottles

Today's episode of Nail Wheel Wednesday stars Halloween-themed bottles. Sadly I've seen very few of these so far this year, but fortunately I have quite a stockpile in my stash.

Destash notes: The only difference between 1 & 2 is the color of the pumpkin face on the bottle. The only difference between 4 & 5 is the cap on the bottle (both bottles have those two faces on them). I could probably give up one in each pair. Other than that, I might have to keep them all. Obviously, that's not a sustainable approach long term, but the long term is a problem for later. Hah.

Snowman Army

In my holiday displays entry, I mentioned the snowmen polishes and my need to take photos of them to avoid buying duplicates, there were so many different ones. Blue Cross can't be faulted for lack of variety for sure. It's been a while since I saw any colors I didn't already have, so I decided the time had come to pick some for swatching. First, I assembled the troops:



Why yes, I do have a slight tendency to go overboard when collecting. It's nature and nurture: my dad collected all sorts of things (coins, art supplies, magazines, electronics) and aimed to have complete sets; my mom is less organized but just as enthusiastic in her accumulation of stuff (she especially likes books, magazines, craft supplies, clothes, and plants).

Here are the blues (four different finishes represented—glitter, shimmer, foil, and micro glitter):


The teals and turquoises (there's a creme in here, so that gets us up to five finishes):


The greens (one of these is a perle, the sixth finish):


The yellows and coral (no new finishes, but I think yellow snowmen are hilarious, since my dad was quite fond of telling me "don't eat the yellow snow" when I was little):


The silvers (look, a holo glitter, that makes seven finishes):


The purples:


The red violets:


The pinks (I know one looks orange-ish, but it's more pink, I swear):


The reds (I now think the two on the left might be the same; I had convinced myself one was lighter but I think it's just that the glitter has settled differently in the two bottles):


Can you believe I have all these and am still looking for one more? It's true. There's a pinky peach creme that some ladies on the nail board have found this year which I have never seen. I know it's most likely too late for it to turn up at retail (the first of these displays showed up at the end of October, so most are pretty picked over by now), but until December 26th, I can keep hoping.
