When putting it away in the "metallics to be swatched on wheels" drawer, I noticed an old Sally Hansen Salon, Baroque Bronze, that looked very similar in the bottle.
Baroque Bronze was a two-coater as well. On the nail, it turned out to be a touch darker than Bronze Ablaze.
Both of them sparkle prettily in direct light:
Outside, in indirect light, they show their bronzey brown faces:
If I were forced to choose only one of these (and it may come to that at some point), I'd keep Baroque Bronze, mostly because I like the bottle and brush better.
I'm so annoyed that I have yet to find Bronze Ablaze. Hmph! Did you find this recently??
ReplyDeleteKris, I bought this particular bottle a while back, but I did see another one at Walgreens yesterday when I was making my rounds looking for new displays.
ReplyDeleteI agree on keeping the older one; I'm not a fan of the brush on the newer bottle at all...and only buy them to use for stamping!
ReplyDeleteI like both of them. I'm actually a fan of the Insta Dri brushes, so that's the one I'd probably keep.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed when you make the Insta Dris look perfect, because I just can't manage that brush. Do you have to do a lot of clean up?
ReplyDeleteThese are really similar! I love the darker one if I must choose!
ReplyDeleteWhen I finally saw Bronze Ablaze in the store I decided not to get it, even though I enjoy seeing pictures of it.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great comparison. If I had to choose I think I would get the darker Baroque Bronze. Not only do I like the color more, but I love the brushes in those square SH Salon bottles!
That Baroque Bronze is more of what I wanted the last time I got a pedicure, but the bronze ended up being so deep it just looked dark brown. I was bummed because I liked the idea of the bronzy shimmer.
ReplyDeleteI got my toes done again this weekend and thought of you -- I ended up layering a glitter (China Glaze Outta Bounds) over a shimmer (China Glaze Atlantis) and I felt very fancy. Sparkly and green! (Greener than I wanted, actually, because I loved the teal of Atlantis, but it's still pretty).
I bought the Bronze Ablaze, too, and haven't worn it yet. Your photos look awesome. I plan on wearing this color a lot in the fall (or once the weather cools down). Like Gail, I am wondering how you make the polish by the cuticles look so good because I find the brush awkward and the part up by the cuticles ends up weird. Any tips to share?
ReplyDeleteThe Insta Dries chip so awfully on me! I think I like the darker one, too :)
ReplyDeleteHmm. I'm not much into this one, but I saw the teal from this collection and I liked that very much!
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a color just like this, but in my confusion was calling it dark gold. Yeah I don't know why, but this is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNice fall polsih!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I bought this Sally Hansen one today on my lunch break! I thought it might look good with a purple stamp over it!
ReplyDeleteI regret not getting this when I saw it the other day. I hope I can hunt it down soon, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteBronze Ablaze is one of my favorite colors. At the walgreens by me, they still have plenty. I could do a cp for some people if they'd like!!
ReplyDeleteXoxox
Pretty polish but I hate the Insta-Dry bottle! Why sally, why? Who makes all the weird polish bottles?
ReplyDeletethey are both beautiful! Loving bronze, I don't think I own anything quite like this, hope I see this at my walgreens, nice conparison!
ReplyDeleteohhh i cant wait to wear some bronzy colors for fall(:
ReplyDeletethanks for showing this color
<3 BB
lovely colors, both of them :-D
ReplyDeleteBoth are really pretty! That greenish bronze makes me think of crisp fall air and yummy apple pies! :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, everyone!
ReplyDeleteGail and DesertNails8, I don't know that I'm an expert with the Insta Dri brush, but I've gotten to the point with it that I don't end up having tons to clean up. I think the biggest issue with it is not getting too much polish on the brush--that wide stem seems to mean a lot more drips down onto the brush, so I make sure to take extra time when I pull it out and wipe the excess back into the bottle.
Harmony, your glittery pedi sounds great!
