Mysterious Milani Glitters

I'm working on a display post, which I hope to get up on Monday, but here's something else I've seen recently:

Those are some new-to-me Milani One Coat and Jewel FX glitters I found at a Meijer store a couple days ago, not in a display on an endcap but stuffed into random slots in the core display. I've never heard of any of these. Left to right: Twinkle, Pink Flare, Hot Pink, Lavender. Twinkle is bright blue and bright purple. Pink Flare reminds me of OPI Teenage Dream but with much smaller holo hexes. Hot Pink is fuchsia and silver holo hexes. Lavender is lilac hexes with small purple glitters.

Today I went to a different Meijer and didn't find any of the first four glitters but did find a Jewel FX called Fuchsia. Here it is under my desk lamp at work:

Where did these come from? How many more are there? I wish I knew.

Addendum, 09-Jan-2012: thanks ABOP/laquerlove, the lovely lady from Another Bottle of Polish?!, I now know more about these glitters. Here's a photo she snapped in her Sears store (used with her permission):

Evidently what we're looking at are expansions of the Jewel FX and One Coat Glitter lines. The new Jewel FX colors are Fuchsia, Lavender, Teal (need it), Hot Pink, and Red (also need it). Not sure of the names of the One Coat Glitters, but it looks like a wine, a teal, Twinkle (the blue), a lilac, and Pink Flare. I am hoping these all show up at Meijer soon, which I think they might since they are clearancing some of the non-glitter ones.

Easter Break

I might be a bit scarce online for the these next three days as I have the time off work and the house to myself, so I'm hoping to paint some nail wheels and do some swatching and make some frankens and sort some Helmer drawers and maybe even try water marbling for the first time.

Some of the things I might swatch are the mini polishes that came in clear Easter eggs, which I had to have once they went on sale for 30% off. Here's my Easter Bunny sock monkey (I bought her a couple weeks ago to keep my Christmas sock monkey company) holding them (de-egged, obviously; yes, I know one is pink, but 30% off brought the price under a dollar each, and spending less than a dollar is not really breaking my no-buy—well, technically it is, but under a dollar and cute and stuff ... no wonder my stash is overflowing the Helmers).

Are you doing anything special with your nails for the holiday? If you are and blogged about it, put a link the comments; I'd love to see!

Snowman Army

In my holiday displays entry, I mentioned the snowmen polishes and my need to take photos of them to avoid buying duplicates, there were so many different ones. Blue Cross can't be faulted for lack of variety for sure. It's been a while since I saw any colors I didn't already have, so I decided the time had come to pick some for swatching. First, I assembled the troops:

Why yes, I do have a slight tendency to go overboard when collecting. It's nature and nurture: my dad collected all sorts of things (coins, art supplies, magazines, electronics) and aimed to have complete sets; my mom is less organized but just as enthusiastic in her accumulation of stuff (she especially likes books, magazines, craft supplies, clothes, and plants).

Here are the blues (four different finishes represented—glitter, shimmer, foil, and micro glitter):

The teals and turquoises (there's a creme in here, so that gets us up to five finishes):

The greens (one of these is a perle, the sixth finish):

The yellows and coral (no new finishes, but I think yellow snowmen are hilarious, since my dad was quite fond of telling me "don't eat the yellow snow" when I was little):

The silvers (look, a holo glitter, that makes seven finishes):

The purples:

The red violets:

The pinks (I know one looks orange-ish, but it's more pink, I swear):

The reds (I now think the two on the left might be the same; I had convinced myself one was lighter but I think it's just that the glitter has settled differently in the two bottles):

Can you believe I have all these and am still looking for one more? It's true. There's a pinky peach creme that some ladies on the nail board have found this year which I have never seen. I know it's most likely too late for it to turn up at retail (the first of these displays showed up at the end of October, so most are pretty picked over by now), but until December 26th, I can keep hoping.

Tune in next entry for swatches of some of the snowmen.
