When I put Riva in the comparison spotlight
earlier this month, I teased that I had Barry M Blue Moon to try as well once my swap partner got her goodies from me. She did, so I was free to give it a go. Based on Barry M's success in
copy Paradoxal, I had high hopes for Blue Moon. Based on the bottles, the two look really close.
Blue Moon (top), Riva (bottom). On the nail, at three coats each, the only difference I could see was in the opacity.
Top to bottom: Riva, Blue Moon, Riva, Blue Moon.Blue Moon (top), Riva (bottom). When I went to four coats each, the difference was lessened, though still visible.
Top to bottom: Riva, Blue Moon, Riva, Blue Moon.I'm not sure why I didn't think to do 3 coats of Blue Moon and 4 of Riva; that would have been closer still. For me, Blue Moon is a fine alternative to Riva, slightly better than Hard Candy Sky because the base color seems a bit of a better match. I wonder if Barry M is working on a Mimosa copy now.
They really are close! I like this alternative.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just wanted to let you know that I tagged you for the Sunshine Award since you always leave great comments on my posts! Here it is: http://lauraslacquers.blogspot.com/2011/06/good-day-sunshine.html
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really close! I hope Barry M (or anyone else, everyone else!) dupes Peridot. *begs*
ReplyDeletei like barry m better, because of the opacity ;-)
ReplyDeletei really don't see why all the tussle around chanel polishes, they don't look nothing special to me :-(
a cheaper alternative!! like purplegreenpande said, hopefully barry m would dupe Peridot because its so pretty and its limited edition.
ReplyDeleteHAIL yes! Now I'm really gonna be dying for my Blue Moon to get here! Thanks for comparing these, I'm so excited!!
ReplyDeleteOk so at first I didn't know if I wanted to buy Barry M Blue Moon, but now I really want it! Lol only because its sooo similar to the Chanel one! =P
ReplyDeleteHaha it is a gorgeous colour =]
It annoys me so much that expensive brands use like, zero pigment. If I can get it for a fraction of the price, you better bet I will! Now, I wish I could get some Barry M! lol
ReplyDeleteWouldn't surprise me if Barry M are doing this on purpose...can't wait for the Mimosa dupe if they are!
ReplyDeleteHow did blue moon work out for you? on me it chips very fast and takes long time to dry. I love the colour but because of that I almost don't wear it.
ReplyDeleteI love this shade, and as long as you use a good top coat, I find most Barry M don't chip.
ReplyDeleteBarry M's website ships to quite a few international countries too :P
Do both have any shimmer? I thought I see a wee bit in the Chanel one. Both stunning and quite close!
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison! I was so curious!
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison. I love these colours, but they don't look as nice on me
ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies!
ReplyDeleteBeautyshades, I only swatched Blue Moon so I don't know about wear, but other Barry Ms do fine for me.
kittypolishnbags, they both have a secretive shimmer; it might be easier to see in big versions of the photos--most evident in the bottle shots.
I see..... Other Barry M colours are alright for me as well only the 2 new colours are not. I may have to try this one with another top coat and see how it goes.Thank you
ReplyDeleteThank for this Karen! I think I will place an order soon seeing that I love Riva & I want to get my paws on other Barry M polishes ;)
ReplyDeleteWow...they seem pretty close to me! I have a few Barry M polishes and really like them. Thx for comparing for us!
ReplyDeleteI love Blue Moon! Barry M seem to do really well with making affordable dupes :)
