I did finally manage to corral all the colors in the Summer 2013 Mash Up collection and get them out of my swatching box: Harmonious Mess, Pretty-Ugly, Choreographed Chaos, Mayhem Mentality, Sparkling Garbage, and Beautiful Disaster.
Harmonius Mess is a blue-leaning lilac creme. This was a surprising two coats; as light as it is, I expected three for sure.
Pretty-Ugly is oddly named; there's nothing ugly about this light turquoise shimmer. At three coats, I had the barest hint of visible nail line.
The blue of the shimmer is quite pretty in lower levels of direct light:
Choreographed Chaos is a bright pink shimmer. The shimmer shows blue/purple in the bottle but not so much on the nail. Swatch is three coats.
Direct low light brings out the shimmer a bit more, but not the to the level of the bottle shot:
Mayhem Mentality is a really bright orange creme. I used three coats; it dried with a bit of a satin finish, though as bright as it was, I was surprised it wasn't even more matte a la many neons. With a white base coat and some topcoat, I imagine this would be even more eyecatching than the swatch makes it look.
Sparkling Garbage is a slightly greyed green jelly packed with small silver holographic glitter. I used three coats, and it wasn't quite opaque. If I wear this for a full mani, I'll either do skintone undies or layer it over a colored base.
Look at all the pretty colors sparkling of Sparkling Garbage in low light:
Beautiful Disaster is a warm purple shimmer. It's ever so slightly brushstrokey, perhaps the darker base color makes that more obvious than it would be otherwise. I used two coats for this swatch.
Here's Beautiful Disaster in low light:
I like all these colors individually—well, maybe not the orange quite as much, since it looked like I had mini traffic cones at the end of my fingers and that's even more distracting than blingy glitter. I'm less sure how they hang together as a collection, but I guess with a name like Mash Up, they don't need to coordinate, they're just all shoved together.
Gah, I hate the new Orly bottles, lol. But I had to buy Sparkling Garbage!
ReplyDeleteThese are all pretty! I didn't get any of them for some reason. I may just have to now!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh I really like those. I am going to have to try and remember to look for these. For some reason I always forget about Orly.
ReplyDeleteI love your swatches and picture <3 I'm waiting for my sparkling garbage to arrive, I think it's an amazing color combo, it's my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteSparkling Garbage is SO fabulous! So glad I have it or I'd be searching for it right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm not crazy about the new design on the bottles either. I do like Sparkling Garbage though, and Beautiful Disaster. I did actually also buy Pretty-Ugly, but I think I may have gotten a bad bottle, because the formula really sucked!
ReplyDeleteSparking Garbage is just amazing. I also really like Pretty Ugly and Choreographed Chaos.
ReplyDeleteI here we go again - I just decided not to get any of these, but now Karen, the friendly neighborhood enabler is messing with that decision :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful polishes and swatches! :)
ReplyDeleteLove pretty-ugly! But... why that name, Orly?
ReplyDeleteHarmonious Mess looks a LOT like Boho Bonnet from the Spring Collection. I picked up Sparkling Garbage but am deciding whether to keep it or add it to a giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI preferred the older bottle but the colors are very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI love Pretty-Ugly! Although...the name is very unfitting lol
ReplyDeleteI gave up and surrendered to Pretty-Ugly only, even if my first love's been Sparkling Garbage since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteAbout the new design, I must say I love the new cap, but I preferred the older style!
I haven't been able to find these yet, but I love all of them!
