I know it hasn't been that long since I last featured Nicole by OPI here, but in addition to sending the Selena Gomez collection for review, they also were nice enough to send the whole Modern Family collection, another 14 polishes. Today I've got swatches of seven of them; this half is dominated by the cooler hues on the color wheel.
Alex by the Books is a blue-leaning mint green creme. I used three coats (no topcoat). It didn't self-level as well as I'd hoped; some thinner might have helped with that.
Am I Making Myself Claire is a dusty pastel warm-toned violet creme. I used three coats of this one as well.
My Jay or the Highway is a khaki creme, nicely balanced between green and brown. This swatch is two coats.
Stand by Your Manny is a light cornflower blue flecked/micro flakie shimmer. I used three coats of this one and experienced some streakiness; thinner might be called for here, too.
What's the Mitch-uation is a royal blue shimmer and a three-coated for me.
Candid Cameron is a teal shimmer with what looked to me like a tiny touch of blue duochrome. I used two coats for this swatch.
Back in My Gloria Days is a purple flecked/micro flakie shimmer. In the bottle, there's a visible gold flash, but on the nail that almost disappears and can only be seen fleetingly at certain odd angles. I used three coats.
I played around with Alex by the Books by adding funky French tips in Candid Cameron. My freehand French skills still need a lot of work, but I do like the color combination.
I plussed Am I Making Myself Claire by adding dots of Candid Cameron and Back in my Gloria Days.
Then I added even more dots with What's the Mitch-uation and also turned my ring finger into a super dotted accent nail.
A couple of these colors looked familiar to me so I grabbed my nail wheels to see. Here's Nicole by OPI Nothing Kimpares to Blue on the left and Stand By Your Manny on the right. Pretty close, so if you missed Nothing Kimpares and have regret, grab Stand by Your Manny.
And here's OPI Into the Night from the Spider-Man collection on the left and What's the Mitch-uation on the right. Again, pretty darn close.
My picks from this half are Back in My Gloria Days and My Jay or the Highway. If I didn't already have Nothing Kimpares to Blue, I'd add Stand By Your Manny to the list.
