Recent NOTD: Sephora by OPI Hell to the No

When the Sephora by OPI Glee collection was released early this year, I didn't pay too much attention, mostly because Sephora has located their stores in places that I have to go just a bit too far out of my way to get to when I'm making my usual shopping rounds. I'd also never seen an entire episode of the show at that point, so I wasn't motivated to seek out the polishes as a fan of the characters they were inspired by. But then a friend gave me one of the colors from the mini set, and I got Netflix, which has the first season of the show on streaming (why only one? I wish I knew), and over the course of a few weekends, I watched almost all of those episodes. Thus, when I noticed there was a Sephora inside a JC Penny near a Target I hit up only when the one on my way home from work doesn't have what I'm looking for, I was primed and ready to go all grabby hands on the Glee polishes they still had in stock. Of course the first one I tried was the purple, Hell to the No. This is a warm-toned purple with a gorgeous gold shimmer. I'm more of a silver girl usually, but the gold in this one works really well.

In the sun—boom! It's super shimmer time:

I gave the Rush topcoat another try with this mani, and due to the shrinkage problems I had the first time, I wrapped my tips. That seems to have worked; I got no shrink. I also got a reminder why I don't usually wrap my tips: I'm crap at it and make a mess under my nails.

I really liked this polish but that did not stop me from adding some stamping to it before I took it off. I'd had it on five days, so you'll see some tipwear in these last photos, but overall I was pleased with how it held up. For stamping, I used Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Makeup in Copper Chrome and Konda plate m29.

  4. The golden shimmer is so lovely! I have Mash-Up from this collection, which I also love. I think they have a bright teal which I've been wanting to grab, too.

  9. Gorgeous colour, purple with gold shimmer just looks fantastic :)
Your nail wrapping looks really neat and tidy, you don't want to see the underside of my nails when I try it, I still have bits of polish there a week later! :P
I'm going to France next month so I'm definitely going to have to raid Sephora while I'm there x

  13. That colour is so pretty. I love the gold shimmer. :)

I get a little line of polish on the underside of my nail when I wrap my tips, too. So did my manicurist, from whom I learned to wrap my tips, lo those many years ago, so you didn't make a mess of it, at all. :D

  17. Thanks, ladies!

Beautyshades, there's a great list of polishes that are good for stamping over at Sasse's Stamping Stampede.

Ice Queen, that makes me feel better. I have this idea that the wrapping should almost not show at all on the underside, but maybe the person I heard that from was just too much of a perfectionist or something.
