The tip sheet I got with these suggested they could be used for manicure and pedicure cleanup. I tried that, dipping one in acetone to take care of stray polish on my skin, but I'm so used to my skinny flat brush that it felt awkward. I think I also got too much acetone on it, because the cotton tip is way more absorbent than my usual cleanup brush. I'm sure these would work fine for cleanup if I just experimented a little more, but since I have a method that works for me, I moved on to trying them for other things.
Two of those experiments worked out really well. I've been using the Precision Tips every day to put on my eyeliner (a powder cake one). I use one end to apply—the pointy tip makes a nice line—and use the the other end to cleanup any stray oopses under my eyes or in the corners. Because I am not good at cleaning my makeup brushes as often as I should, the fact these are disposable is great, especially since I'm using them around my eyes. The other thing the Precision Tips were perfect for was cleaning the liquid bleach dispenser in my washing machine. I am far from the perfect homemaker, but this dirt collecting corner of my washer bothers me. I don't use liquid bleach, so all this dispenser does is get caked up with dust and dirt that filters out of the wash water. There are raised letters on the bottom of this dispenser with lots of nooks and crannies to catch the dirt, and the Precision Tips got in there and picked it up in a way that a cloth or sponge couldn't.
I'm sure you can think of ways to use these, too. The company has offered to ship a package of them for one U.S. reader to try. To enter the giveaway, put your e-mail into the Rafflecopter form (yes, I'm trying them out; the fact the site went down about two minutes after I signed up did not make me feel warm and fuzzy, I must say). For an extra entry, leave a comment saying what you'd like to try the Precision Tips for.

I was provided with Q-tips® Precision Tips® cotton swabs and information about the product by Rocket XL. All opinions are 100% my own.
UPDATE 24-Aug-2012: Congratulations to Maureen, who won her own box. She's already gotten back to me with her information, so hope she'll get them soon.
I'm a rebel and still use Q-Tips to clean my ears. It feels so good!
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful in getting the last of the nail polish off.
ReplyDeleteI think these might work well for me when I do my gelish manis since I can't get the hang of the cleanup brush and I tend to injure myself with wood sticks. Also I wish I had one now to clean my keyboard, I bet the point would get inbetween my keys perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI am an old-school girl I guess because I still use the pointed cotton makeup applicators to cleanup my manis and pedis. It works great for me, so I've never gone with the brush method. The problem is that I think Swisspers brand has discontinued their double-pointed end product, so I moved on to another brand. The new ones I have been using now make me feel so wasteful because they are the kind that have one pointed end and one flatter end, so they usually go in the trash half used. The Q-tip brand would be a perfect replacement for my discontinued product. Plus, like you mentioned, I would love to put these to work on all those stubborn little cleaning jobs and other makeup application.
ReplyDelete-Suzzie-
They look like they'd be good for nail polish cleanup.
ReplyDeleteI'd use it to clean my manicures :)
ReplyDeleteI tried qtips like this for polish remover at the cuticles but a brush worked better...now my DD has the rest of the package to use for makeup.
ReplyDeleteI think these would be good because you wouldn't have to clean a brush after cleanup.
ReplyDeleteI would try them for manicure cleanup first! After that... I'm not really sure. I just love Q-tips!
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to try these for manicure clean up, but I love your tip for eyeliner. great idea!
ReplyDeleteI could actually think of a ton of different uses for these! I've bought the pointed variety at Sally Beauty supply before, but I don't like them as well as Q-Tip (no matter how many brands/variations I try, I always come back to Q-Tip). Cleaning in small places would be a big help!
ReplyDeleteI would use these for manis and pedis, and to apply eyeshadow or smudge eyeliner :)
ReplyDeletenail clean up for sure! im a mess at doing my nails.
ReplyDeleteWould be fab for some smaller eye make up clean up jobs too. I have used the old reg. Q-Tips for mani clean up.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that I just signed up to wine Q-Tips!! :D I would use them for mani clean-up so my hubby would stop yelling at me for using up all the Q-Tips! :)
ReplyDeletelol I really can't think of anything other than mani cleanup and getting into those little nooks in my ears. XD Great idea using them to clean out your bleach dispenser. Maybe I could try them to clean in between my keyboard keys? Good luck everybody!
ReplyDeleteI like to use qtips when i have a lot to clean up in a mani but it would be nice to get closer to the nail with "precision" :)
ReplyDeleteI use a brush to clean up my mani but I really dislike the brush I have so these would be nice to try.
ReplyDeleteHmm I would definitely like to try this for cleaning up a mani. I'd also like to try it for when I'm applying eye makeup and I need to smudge or clean up boo-boos :)
ReplyDeleteI think these would also be good to clean up after nail polish remover. Sometimes I still have residual polish in my cuticles after removal, and so I use q tips to pick up any left over polish, and polish that has found its way into the sides of my nails and fingers.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE pointy ended Q-tips! They are the absolutely best for cleanup! I much prefer them over a brush!
