RBL Spring Comparisons
When I swatched the Rescue Beauty Lounge spring colors last week, I promised to follow up with comparisons, and here they are.
Cilucia wanted to see Decorous vs. Sally Hansen Fedora (and a couple other things I don't actually have, amazingly enough). As it turns out, Fedora is quite a bit lighter than Decorous, though they are similar hues and have silvery shimmer in common.

rmcandlelight, Nancy, and Turtlechick all asked about Insouciant compared to Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid. I wondered about that myself, so was already planning to do this one. The hold up was locating my bottle of My Kind of Cool Aid; I first found all the polishes I'd compared to it before but for some reason it wasn't with any of those but in a different drawer entirely. I really must get my stash better organized. I'm relieved to say I can justify keeping both of Insouciant and My Kind of Cool Aid. Insouciant is darker and its shimmer is bluer.

Nobody asked me to compare Iconcolast to Chanel Steel, I'm guessing because it really doesn't make much sense to find out if a $25 polish is a good substitute for an $18 one, but since I still haven't let go of Steel despite it underwhelming me, I figured I might as well. They're similar; the shimmer in Steel is more visible both in the bottle and on the nail. I think that's a drawback in this case, as it makes Steel feel less modern than Iconoclast; there's just a hint of frostiness to it that I'm not pleased to have paid so much money for.

Finally, since I hadn't put Grey Area away properly, it was handy for a comparison to Recherché. I was curious about this since they're both in that "is it grey or purple or brown or what?" space. In the bottles, they look kinda close if you're not concentrating too hard (or are my husband), but on the nail Grey Area is definitely lighter. It might make a good franken base for a Recherché dupe.
Top to bottom: Grey Area, Recherché, Grey Area, Recherché.
I'm always happy to take requests, so if there's anything you'd like to see swatched or compared, let me know and if I've got the polishes, I'll do 'em and post em.

ReplyDeleteI love the first 2 especially.
I was so curious about Fedora & MKOCA and you compared them - yay!! Thanks for the great pics. I want the RBLs a lil bit more now, especially Recherché.
ReplyDeleteMost of those look so different in the bottle but very similar once applied. Thanks for the comparisons.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for these comparisons, especially about CultNails - I think I might order there soon ;)

I always love your comparison posts. Thank you for the time that goes into these. Also, you made me laugh out loud when I read the comparison between an RBL and Chanel. I agree with the whole $18 or $25 thing and it made me laugh to actually think about it. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow great comparisons as always! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteMost of all the colours look very similar. Thanks for showing us:)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! Thanks so much for those comps. A gravender freak like me might have to have the Cult Nails and the RBL.
ReplyDeleteI may need Recherche a bit less...
thanks again.
