I started with one coat of the Nabi, but a couple of the stars weren't placed where I wanted them, so I redid those nails, which worked fine except the color was definitely darker on the two-coat nails (when I say "definitely" I mean I could see it when I was looking for it; I doubt a casual observer would notice). These photos show all two-coat nails; I ended up redoing even the well-aligned stars on this hand entirely so they'd match. Once I had the stars in place, I added my usual Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat.
In other news, I have put up my first ever poll in the sidebar. I'd like to get your input on how you'd like to see me post full collections, as I've got some I need to do soon and realized I don't know if my usual style of doing all the swatches and layering experiments in one post is helpful or annoying or somewhere in between. So vote, please, and if you have any additional thoughts on the subject, I'd love to hear them in the comments. Thanks for your input!
I'd say a couple per post. Too many just make me glaze over. Not you - just TMI at one time.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit anti-collection as I don't understand why anybody would want a whole bunch in one go. I think that's probably just me though so take no notice.
It's a big difference between UK and US blogging-style, I think.
jaljen, I don't know about other people who buy full collections, but I think I inherited a "completist" gene from my dad. I remember shopping with him when I was little and helping him look for things he needed to fill out a set of something he had the rest of at home. I feel quite happy when I get a complete set of some nail polish collection. Fortunately, it's not so strong a compulsion that I have to do it with every collection (or core colors); I don't have a big enough budget or house for that.
DeleteI just got some more magnetic polishes. I like the color on this one!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous! I like how subtle it is. It's a gorgeous colour too. You could wear that without making magnetic shapes and it would still look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLol I agree: definitely not lavender. Still, it's really cool. Most magnetic polishes are metallic. I like this nude polish!
ReplyDeleteI picked this one up too but I'm still not sure if I want to keep it...not too much contrast in the pattern.
ReplyDeleteAs far as pics, it depends. I usually do like to see the whole collection together so I can decide which ones I want and compare and contrast them to each other. Saves me cross reference time.
Is that a creme? I've never seen creme magnetics and that one looks just amazing!!! ^__^
ReplyDeleteAkuma Kanji, it's a very, very subtle shimmer. In most lights, it does look like a creme, which is one reason I picked it up. :)
DeleteIf only my Walgreens sold Nabi...
ReplyDeleteOoh...I didn't even know that design was even possible with magnetic nail polish.
ReplyDeleteI tend to like to see a full collection all at once. It lets me choose which ones I want to keep an eye out for. Plus, since I'm in San Francisco, everything is sold out pretty fast especially if it's limited edition, so seeing the whole collection eliminates the wait time and I can just go to the store fully informed and have first dibs.
still have not checked wags for these..now I am! delicate magnetic?!! this is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the star magnet!
ReplyDeleteNabi's names definitely do not match their colors, I recently bought 3. I'm not to happy about they way they smell, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteMaria, they do have something of an "old school" smell, but it doesn't really bother me. I think I get so distracted by seeing my nails transformed with a new color that I don't notice the smell much.
DeleteI really like the color of this one! I also like that the polish isn't dark. So many of the magnetic polishes have a dark look. This one looks light and fresh!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty colour. This looks great on you :]
ReplyDeleteoh i love that color! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty magnetic colour!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the only magnetic polish that I really, really like, since it doesn't look metallic.
ReplyDeleteThis really isn't lavender or mauve-I don't get how these stupid companies make up names that have nothing to do with the color! It's irritating! I will go answer your poll now-
ReplyDeleteIt actually won't show the dots to make the vote-did you ban me from voting? HAHA! You may want to check that-it's not showing the dots for me-but I can see the percentages for each topic
ReplyDeleteIt's not you, it's the poll, which is closed now. You can still tell me how you would have voted.
DeleteI really like this one!!
