Starlight and Sparkles Companion Fairy

Welcome to my second installment of the polishes sent for review by Starlight and Sparkles (you may remember the holos and shimmers in part one from last Wednesday). Today's featured polish is Companion Fairy, a color shifting glitter topcoat, accompanied by Crystal, a clear quick dry topcoat.

The small glitter particles in Companion Fairy shifts from blue through turquoise and teal to green. I used my favorite Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme as a base color, except on my accent nail, where I used Butter London Slapper, to see how a teal base would affect the look of the blue/green glitter. As Companion Fairy has good glitter density, I only used one coat of it on top of the base colors. In the note she'd sent with the samples, Issa, the creator of Starlight and Sparkles, noted that Companion Fairy tends to be topcoat hungry, so I added a layer of Crystal to smooth things over.

The teal color of Slapper seemed to make the green hues in the glitter pop; on the nails with a black base, I saw much more of the blue, though of course it varied by the angle I was looking from. The blurry shot below shows my index finger on the left dominated by the blue end of the shift, while my pinky is mostly green.

These next two shots show how Companion Fairy looked out in the sunshine:

You can get a 5ml bottle of Companion Fairy for $3.50 or a 15ml bottle for $8 from the Starlight and Sparkles etsy shop. The Crystal topcoat is $2.50 for a mini or $6 for full size. There are also three other colors of color shifting glitter topcoats available: Din (red to green), Farore (teal to gold), and Nayru (turquoise to purple). Follow the brand on Facebook for swatches and such.

The polishes shown in this entry were provided free for review purposes. The content of the entry was not dictated by the provider, and I get to keep the polishes for my own use.
