I scooped up the glitters and left the cremes.
For swatching purposes, I pulled out cremes from my stash that I thought were close to the Revlon colors. For the gray, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Cement, which I think might be a bit darker than Revlon Silver. For the red, I picked Wet 'n' Wild Cherry Pop, which is probably a bit brighter and warmer than Revlon Ruby. For the purple, I chose China Glaze Grape Pop, which I think is pretty close to Revlon Rock. For the black, I used Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme, which I imagine is pretty much the same as Revlon Lunar (not considering coverage and formula, of course).
Galaxy struck me as the most interesting glitter, so I gave it a tryout over a variety of colors.
I like Galaxy best over the darker colors. On the lighter ones, the black glitter looks to me like I spilled pepper or dirt on my mani, and that doesn't really appeal to me. La Playa is my favorite of the bases—dark enough to not get the pepper effect yet the black glitter doesn't get lost entirely. Of course, La Playa is a favorite of mine un-layered, so I'm probably biased.
Oooh glitters! These are so cute but yes I agree the dirt look is out ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the dark glitter! Nice to see drugstore brands going out on a limb glitter-wise.
ReplyDelete*sigh* why revlon, why don't you care much about you european customers?
ReplyDeleteI was/am still wondering why they don't sell so many things here (and I do know that there are people who want a bigger variety of their display)
oh well, another reason why I love swapping :)
oh shiz-nit. i was gonna skip these. now i have to go back and get galaxy. atleast i have a coupon... i think!
ReplyDeletewow i haven't been to the drugstore recently... revlon, actually having interesting polish..? wow.. i love these.. I pretty much pass on revlon because the shades are really boring.. might have to find this display when i get more monies.. lol.
ReplyDeleteI might go pick up Belle as it seems like the safest bet for a glitter-phobe like me. lol
ReplyDeleteWhile I now love glitters like Ruby Pumps & Charla, they are a whole different story! I'm still on the fence with stuff like this.
Not sure about these. From now on I'm only buying must-haves and not maybes.
ReplyDeleteI am generally a glitter hater but I really like Galaxy.
ReplyDeleteI really like these, especially Galaxy!
ReplyDeleteyeah, these are pretty cool and thank you for swatching them all!
ReplyDeleteoooh shiny! I'm really liking these glitter topcoats. I want to get my hands on Galaxy. I agree about the darker glitter though, it needs to be layered over the right colors.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I have to have them! If I find it anyway....
ReplyDeleteHugs =)
Great swatching as usual! I agree that Galaxy looks best on darker colors.
ReplyDeleteI just got these the other day too! I'm so glad I got these!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue glitter best! I found some Revlon outlets here in the Philippines, but unfortunately, most of them don't carry nail polishes. If they do, they don't carry enough color variety. :(
ReplyDeleteI actually like that the collection comes with a creme and a glitter. Revlon polishes are pretty good!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, thanka for the pic of the display.
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure to hunt this one down at my local drugstore :)
This is such an old post I'm sure it doesn't matter but just a note that the glitter you mentioned as "Roll" in this post is actually "Star". I'm sorry for correcting you *checks watch*... Umm 13 years later ... but I was researching my collection and came across this.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a surprise. I see that you are correct ... odd that it's taken this long for someone to notice. :D I'll do an edit when I get a chance in case someone else wanders by all these years later.
