I used three coats, though I might have been able to stop at two. No problems with application, and swatches are without topcoat, so it's pretty shiny on its own.
Of course I couldn't resist doing a comparison, so I grabbed Catrice I Sea You and Sally Hansen Insta Dri Sea Breeze.
The Models Own falls nicely in between the other two; it's not quite as dark as I Sea You or as bright as Sea Breeze. If I can find two more suitable shades in my stash I'll do a hospital green ombre mani.
Unfortunately, I cannot say that no nail polishes were harmed in the making of this entry. There was an unfortunate incident with I Sea You; I dropped it from chest height onto a hardwood floor and the cap broke. Fortunately, not very much polish flew out of the bottle, so I was able to clean up the floor (and the nearby door that also got splattered). I also happened to have some empy mini bottles handy, so I was able to decant what was left. And thanks to the magic of the internet and the kindness of nail bloggers, I already have made arrangements to get a replacement, so as polish accidents go, this was minor.
Very pretty! If you have it, I'd like to see this compared to Sephora by OPI Ocean Love Potion.
ReplyDeleteI tagged you in a post: http://never-unpolished.blogspot.com/2010/08/four-things.html
Karen, thank you! It is such a lovely colour although I was thinking it would be a bit greyer, it looks like it might be quite similar to Rimmel Sky High - if I ever manage to get my hands on a slate green I will have to do a comparison like you did with the other two! How was removal - Sky High left me with rather stained fingers?
ReplyDeletethe pic with the broken i sea you bottle gave me goosebumps, I hope no one else was harmed :P
ReplyDeletelovely ombre idea!
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice colour! I am a sucker for any greens. Any shade of green to be exact :)
ReplyDeleteAnd where is Models Own from?
Zara, thanks! I don't happen to have that Sephora; guess I spend so much money and time at Ulta that I don't have any left for Sephora. :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie, removal wasn't a problem, though I only had it on for a short while during that swatching session. Definitely easier than a blue I swatched later that day, though.
amusedPolish, fortunately no other bottles were involved, just that one slipped when I was walking out of the room to take it to be swatched.
jbrobeck, thanks!
The Green Fairy, I got this in a swap with jaljen of nailpolishuk blog; I believe it's a British brand.
Is this one anywhere close to Misa Dirty Sexy Money? Everytime I make a Head2Toe or Transdesign order DSM is always sold out.
ReplyDeleteLove that!! Very pretty colour ;(

Is the Sally Hansen Insta Dri Sea Breeze a dupe of Mint Sprint insta dri? If you know.
ReplyDeleteaw, sorry to hear about the Catrice polish. but those are such beautiful colors!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love seafoam greens!!! All if these are totally up my alley. Too bad about the bottle it sucks when that happens....
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful color =)
ReplyDeleteI love that;)

This is a crazy gorgeous color! I've never seen SH Sea Breeze, but it looks very pretty I'll have to look for it next time I'm at the drugstore. Usually I hate the formula/brushes on the Insta-dri polishes but I may just have to forget about those and get Sea Breeze instead, the color is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really like all three of these greens, but the Models Own is my favorite by a hair. The dusty slate green is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteSerena, not sure about DSM; I've never been able to get that one myself.
MissMidnightBlue, Sea Breeze is just a bit more blue than Mint Sprint, but they are very close otherwise. They're actually both on the nail wheel I'll be posting on Wednesday this week.
I love all the dupes that catrice makes for a way better price! i've never tried models own, i'd like to! xx
ReplyDeleteOh wow, poor Catrice.
ReplyDeleteIs that Sally Hansen LE? I just recently discovered Insta Dri's and I want more!
Ironically, I couldn't find my bottle of MO Slate Green. It was the color I was most excited about and yet it's the one that I haven't tried yet. :P
This one is from the Spring 2010 display, which I think was LE. I do still see some of the polishes in random drugstores, though, so you may get lucky.
