Insta-Dri Fall 2010

Today I have swatches of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri fall limited edition collection. Back when I first spotted the display I said I was going to try to wait for them to be on sale, and not too long after, Rite Aid had their BOGO. By the end of that week, I had all eight colors.

Silver Sweep is indeed silver, a nice glowing cool-toned metallic finish. The brushstrokes on this one settled pretty well, though if you look closely, you can see them. If you don't already have a silver in your collection, this one would be a good one to grab.

I'm not even sure what color to call Metallic Momentum: a green-ish pewter, maybe, or possibly antique gold. It's a bit more on the foil side of metallic than Silver Sweep. I can't think of many polishes I have like it; perhaps Milani Key Lime Shine, but I think that one's lighter and greener. This is my favorite of the collection because it's an unusual color and I think it looks good with my skintone.

Golden Flash is warm, almost butterscotch, gold shimmer. It's pretty, but I think it would look a lot better on someone with a darker complexion than I have.

Instant Coffee is a light brown shimmer.

Cherry Blaze is a rosy red creme, classic and soft enough to work as a neutral.

Ruby Rocket is a deep red creme, a bit bolder than Cherry Blaze but still classic.

Sonic Plum is a dark warm violet creme. I'm guessing most of you reading have at least one version of this color/finish combination already, but if you don't this is a nice one.

Purple Bolt is a slightly greyed violet shimmer and my second favorite from the collection.

I used two coats of most of these; for Cherry Blaze I used one. I probably could have stopped at one coat on some of the others, but I'm not the habit of pausing to consider that and just move right on to coat two. I'm looking forward to trying some of these are for stamping; they're pretty pigmented, so they should be good. They better be good, actually, since I have similar colors and finishes to most of them in my collection already.

  15. I've had really good luck stamping with Rapid Red, but you have to be quick and clean the plates super well after each stamp.

  19. Metallic Momentum might be a dupe of Chanel Kaleidoscope since Key Lime Shine is.
