Smitten Polish Berrydrops Collection

I was fortunate to receive four colors for review from Berrydrops, one of the recent collections from Smitten Polish. The Berrydrops collection is all spring colored jelly/creme polishes with small transluscent white flakies. The four I got for review are (left to right): Beautyberry Gumdrop, Snowberry Gumdrop, Huckleberry Gumdrop, and Gooseberry Gumdrop.

Bottle back view so you can see the flakies:

Beautyberry Gumdrop, a warm pink, and Snowberry Gumdrop, a warm pastel purple, looked so compatible sitting next to each other that I decided to swatch them at the same time, using Snowberry as the accent nail. I used 3 coats plus topcoat for both colors.

Huckleberry Gumdrop is a turquoise blue. This is also three coats plus topcoat.

Gooseberry Gumdrop is a mint green, and again, swatch is three coats plus topcoat.

If you follow me on Google+ or Facebook, you saw the sneak peek and know what happened next: I decided to use all four colors at once in a gradient. If I'd started out with this in mind, I wouldn't have put topcoat on Gooseberry Gumdrop or let it dry so much before I added the other shades (I did this gradient without a sponge, just brushing on the colors, relying on their jellyesque qualities to help with the blending). Still, I was quite happy with how this turned out. To Gooseberry, I added, in order: Huckleberry, Snowberry, and Beautyberry, then topped it all off with another layer of topcoat.

You know I'm a collector, so of course I couldn't resist buying the remaining two shades of Berrydrops to complete the set. Snozzberry Gumdrop is a pastel teal. Like its friends, I swatched it with three coats plus topcoat.

Rounding out the Berrydrops is Bananaberry Gumdrop, a pastel yellow. I used four coats of this one, plus topcoat.

I decided to do a gradient on Bananaberry, too, adding Gooseberry, Huckleberry, and Snozzberry in that order. Again, I didn't work on the base color when it was wet, so the transition is not quite as smooth as I'd like—though that was easy to overlook since all the colors together made me so happy.

Here's the whole lineup of Berrydrops:

The colors in this collection is perfect for spring and summer, and the delicate flakies in them add a lot of interest, plus the jellyish formula means they're a lot of fun to play with. When I looked just now, most of them were still available in the Smitten Polish etsy shop for $9 a bottle (these are full size 15 ml), and Noelie does regular restocks so I expect the ones that aren't there right now will be soon. The Smitten Polish Facebook page is a good place to keep up with news on this great indie brand.

Four of the six polishes shown in this entry were provided free for review purposes. The content of the entry was not dictated by the provider, and I get to keep the polishes for my own use.
